South Africa is a most beautiful country. Well most of it anyway. The weather in the summer is to die for (you will probably will die if you don't have air-conditioning). Mostly though the weather is fairly good.
South Africa is rich in the wild animal life. The large cats such as the lion, leopard, and cheetah roam freely in many parts of the country and feed on innumerable species of antelope and the monkey family. See if you can find the roaming animals in Johannesburg. (Please be aware the picture is a fake, I am sure you can tell). A wide variety of reptiles including crocodiles, iguanas, and snakes, some very poisonous are found in the countryside. Game numbers were heavily reduced during the 19th century, when hunters killed vast numbers of game animals in pursuit of trophies. In order to protect the surviving animals game reserves were established in Natal in 1897 and the Kruger National Park in 1898. Strenuous efforts are being made to preserve endangered species such as the white rhinoceros and many other animals. These reserves have become tourist attractions. On the right is South Africa's springbok. The same name given to the best international rugby team in the world.
With the Rand as bad as it is, taking a holiday here from overseas would be quite affordable. There are many scenic places to go to and much wildlife to see in the game reserves, as you can see in the pictures.
